Program Outline
The Block Watch program provides individuals and communities with the tools and knowledge they need to support safe, healthy, and socially rich neighbourhoods.
- Neighbours watch out for neighbours
- Residents in a designated area form a communication chain aided by a block map of names, telephone numbers, and addresses
- Some groups arrange a patrol by members who walk their dogs in the neighbourhood on a regular basis (Citizen on Patrol)
- Participants meet annually to organize and get acquainted
- Each group has a Lead trained in the philosophy and practices of Block Watch
Block Watch Lead
As a Block Watch Lead, you foster a working relationship, awareness, and a sense of shared responsibility amongst residents, helping your neighbourhood stay safer and more resilient. Your small gift of time shows friends and neighbours the importance of being committed to our shared safety.
