The second storm is underway Friday and as of 11 a.m. local time, some areas have already picked up more than 60 mm of rain across the South Coast.

Wind warnings were in place for most of Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast, later expanded to Abbotsford and the Fraser Valley

“At 12 p.m., the low is approximately 100 km south of Tofino. Ahead of the low, the wind will continue to increase from the southeast along the west coast of Vancouver Island peaking at 100 km/h early this afternoon. East Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast, Howe Sound near Bowen Island, Southern Gulf Islands, Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley – West including Abbotsford regions will see their winds from the southeast increase up to 80 km/h early this afternoon.,” says Environment Canada. “As the low moves across the South Coast, the winds will veer to southwest 40 gusting to 80 km/h late this afternoon over West Vancouver Island region, through Inland Vancouver Island region and progressing eastward reaching Metro Vancouver by early evening. Port Alberni will see their strongest winds from the southwest gusting to 90 km/h with the passage of the low.”
